This year, the theme is Your Action Counts! Land: Connect, Protect, Conserve. Make your event an official Environment Week Green Stop event that educates, empowers and engages the public. For more information, visit www.environment.gov.ab.ca/edu/eweek
June 1 – 3, 2009 Alberta Water Learning Network – Edmonton
This inaugural meeting will convene senior water NGO leaders from across the province to learn, reflect and build peer networks. The theme of this Learning Network is resource capacity. The program will draw heavily on the experience and knowledge of the participants as well as provide training on fundraising (Ken Wyman), various thinking tools (facilitator Dr. Charlotte Young), an evening speaker (Andrew Nikiforuk) and panelists (RBC, Max Bell Foundation, TD, Alberta Ecotrust) to develop a collective understanding about this complex issue. The program addresses the unique circumstances and perspectives of the environmental community. A key requisite of the program is nesting the learning back into the culture and practice of participating organizations. Visit www.sustainabilitynetwork.ca

June 13 and 14, 2009 Botany Alberta 2009 – Waterton area
Join us at the spectacular Waterton area for Botany Alberta, the annual botanical survey of the Alberta Native Plant Council. These professional and amateur botanists have been providing valuable and rare plant data to NCC since 2007, and have had lots of fun doing it! Bring your tents for rustic camping in or around Waterton Lakes National Park (WLNP) to get set up for a full weekend of exploration and plant identification. There are options for less-rustic accommodations in WLNP, Pincher Creek or Cardston. Plant identification experience is helpful. All events require volunteers to be in good physical condition.
This event takes place during the Waterton Wildflower Festival, which features educational courses on wildflowers, ecosystems, and more; plus art exhibits and workshops on photography, painting, and drawing: www.watertonwildflowers.com
