Job Description:
EBA Engineering Consultants Ltd. (EBA) is seeking a Junior-level Biologist to work in our Whitehorse, Yukon office. The successful candidate will work directly with EBA’s local natural science team in organizing and conducting a variety of natural science, environment, and regulatory projects. These projects are primarily related to the mining, transportation, and land development sectors. Responsibilities will include:
• Work with other staff and under direction of the natural science lead to help organize and implement natural science projects, including biological studies, environmental assessment reports, and monitoring.
• Aid in the development and implementation of work plans, budgets, and field study plans.
• Work cooperatively to conduct or lead field assessments.
• Enter, manage, and analyze biological assessment data.
• Prepare clear and concise reports.

Qualifications:
The candidate will have a Bachelor or Master’s of Science degree in biology, ecology, zoology, or related environmental discipline, and applicable experience in field biology or environmental consulting. The ability to work independently and to assimilate, organize, and effectively report on biological studies in the context of project objectives is important. Knowledge of relevant legislation (both territorial and federal) are an asset, as well as familiarity with general Environmental Impact Assessment processes. A clean driver’s abstract is required. Successful candidates for the above position will ideally possess the following traits:
• Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
• An ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
• A positive, innovative, and service-oriented attitude.
• Experience or ability to conduct field studies in remote locations.
• A willingness to travel and participate in field work, and to work in small aircraft.
• A willingness to work non-standard hours as required.
