General Duties:

Junior or Intermediate Fisheries Biologist will conduct fisheries habitat assessments and aquatic sampling including backpack and boat electrofishing, gill netting, benthic invertebrates, water sampling etc.
Environmental assessments related to the aquatic environment for small and large projects throughout northern and western Canada
Work in a team or independently under the direction of the senior aquatic biologist
Extensive field work locally and in remote locations, may be away from home for extended periods of time
Technical report preparation
Requirements:
University degree in Biology, Ecology or Environmental Sciences;
Minimum requirement of Bachelor’s degree with 2 years experience or equivalent;
Experience conducting fish habitat and fish community assessments;
Experience in fish sampling and fish species and life stage ID
Experience conducting benthic invertebrate sampling and identification;
Water sampling experience
Knowledge of environmental regulations, specifically in Alberta
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Strong Organizational skills for coordinating field work and equipment
Experience operating boats, ATVs and snowmobiles;
Must be comfortable working in the field at remote locations for sometimes extended durations
Valid Class 5 drivers license
