Hatfield Consultants (Hatfield), established in 1974, is a Canadian environmental consulting company that has undertaken over 1,500 projects in North and South America, Asia, Europe and Africa. Hatfield provides services in the areas of environmental assessment and monitoring, contaminant monitoring, GIS and remote sensing, environmental information systems, aquatic ecology, and biodiversity assessments.

General Description: Environmental Specialist will be assigned to Hatfield’s Environmental Assessment and Monitoring Group and will manage and implement environmental projects in Alberta and BC.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for management of environmental monitoring and impact assessment studies in British Columbia and Alberta that require field work, literature reviews, compilation and analysis of environmental data, and report writing
Duties will include sampling program design, field crew leadership, data analysis and reporting, management of project teams, project budgeting and resourcing, and client liaison

Demonstrated Competencies:

• Technical competency in a specific environmental discipline
• Experience in managing environmental projects and studies, including scheduling, budgeting, client liaison
• Experience in managing field crews and ability/interest to work extensively in the field, occasionally in remote locations.
• Ability to work in a dynamic consulting environment that requires flexibility and teamwork
• Research and analytical skills (sampling design, data collection, compilation and statistical analysis)
• Excellent communication (verbal and written – technical and scientific writing)

Education and Experience:

• M.Sc. or higher degree, appropriate qualifications for work in either Alberta or BC, and a minimum of 3 years of similar experience, preferably in a consulting environment
• Eligibility for R.P.Bio./P.Biol. or other professional designation
