Tannas Conservation Services Ltd. (TCS) has a unique opportunity available and is seeking an experienced ecologist or biologist with a minimum of 5 years of experience in related disciplines who is interested in filling an office-analyst focused role to support multidisciplinary field programs. This position will provide office-based support to Discipline Leads, Project Managers, and field crews to help facilitate and deliver successful field programs. The ideal candidate will have experience collaborating on multidisciplinary teams, strong organizational skills, and good acumen for teamwork. Our areas of work include reclamation and restoration, mining and research, rangelands, vegetation ecology, biophysical and regulatory, wildlife, agrivoltaics, agriculture, and wetland ecology. This position is expected to be primarily office based, and suitable to professionals looking for a change of pace or opportunities to shift focus away from field-based work. There is opportunity to support a part-time schedule or include field time.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support project and field logistics for ongoing field programs.
  • Develop field maps, conduct QAQC on field data, and work with datasets to produce map products.
  • Support the development of geospatial products for reports, including maps, figures, map books, restoration plans, and technical specifications (e.g., restoration planting).
  • Coordinate with team members and clients to action project requests.
  • Conduct data analysis, provide report support, and assist in report review.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on project needs.
  • Participate in project scoping, cost estimation, and project management.
  • Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with team members, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Actively engage in all aspects of the TCS safety program.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Canadian citizen
  • Post-secondary degree (BSc., MSc) in a relevant discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant field experience
  • Competent knowledge of regulatory requirements for wetlands, and Alberta Wetland Policy
  • Experience in wetland classification and delineation in mineral and organic wetlands
  • Registered Professional Agrologist or Professional Biologist in good standing
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license and own a vehicle
  • Comfortable and competent working independently and self-driven
  • Strong leadership, teamwork, communication, and organizational skills
  • Strong technical writing skills and data management
  • Detail-oriented
  • Passion for challenges, learning, and diverse types of work

Travel: Primarily office based
Salary: Negotiable depending on skill and experience level
