Woodlands North is a professional environmental consulting firm offering data driven management solutions to Alberta’s resource sectors. We specialize in field data collection and geospatial analysis to support ecological restoration of fragmented or isolated habitats. Our primary focus is restoration of lotic stream habitat and ecosystem connectivity resulting from fragmentation due to roadway watercourse crossings. Woodlands also has extensive experience and work with planning and conducting operational linear restoration of legacy seismic footprint (caribou habitat) throughout the province. Woodlands has offices in Edmonton, Whitecourt, a new office and Grande Prairie, AB.

We are currently seeking a Restoration Ecologist to join our team in a management capacity. This is a full-time permanent position focused on the development and application of results-based ecological solutions to operational restoration needs for both aquatic and terrestrial habitats. Project work is completed for the energy and forest sectors.

Position: Restoration Ecologist

Candidate will be knowledgeable in current restoration best management practices for watercourse and watershed restoration as well as terrestrial habitat restoration of linear features such as legacy roads and seismic. This person will have a post-secondary degree and at least 5 years of related field experience. Project responsibilities will include development of landscape level restoration plans based on large spatial and temporal data sets. A proven ability to conduct ecological analysis, design ecologically focused models, and to produce spatially explicit operational outputs (ESRI GIS) for industrial clients is required.

This position requires demonstrated supervisory skills and strong written and verbal communication skills. The candidate will enjoy working with and mentoring junior professionals.
