Aspen Land Group is currently seeking an Environmental Specialist to assist with projects focused on the sand and gravel, and oil and gas industries.

Key Responsibilities of the position will include:
• Prepare high quality reports and regulatory authorization applications under the Code of Practice for Pits, Environmental
Protection and Enhancement Act, Water Act, Public Lands Act, and municipal bylaws
• Coordinate and perform field assessments including but not limited to wetland assessments, detailed pre-disturbance
biophysical assessments, detailed site assessments of reclaimed sand and gravel pits and oil and gas wellsites

Required Skills:

•Post-secondary education in environmental sciences with a minimum of five years of consulting or other related experience
• Professional designation with either the Alberta Institute of Agrologists of Alberta, College of Alberta Professional Foresters or
Alberta Society of Professional Biologists
• Experience and competency with the Alberta Wetland Policy Program and associated directives
• Ability to authenticate regulatory documents submitted under Alberta Wetland Policy
• Strong vegetation identification skills and wetland ecology knowledge
• Knowledge and experience working with First Nations Consultation Policy is an asset
• Strong report writing skills, and ability to review and interpret legislation
• Experience working in the sand and gravel industry is an asset
• Excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license
