The 2018 Annual General Meeting of the Canadian Institute of Forestry – Institut Forestier du Canada will take place from September 18-20 in Grande Prairie, AB, with two days of presentations and various social events with one day featuring a number of concurrent field tours.
This year’s conference theme “Sustaining Resources and Enhancing Communities: By Looking Back and Going Forward.” is focusing on four key pillars; (1) Community, (2) Wildlife, (3) Site Restoration, and (4) Land and Forest Management Planning. Session topics include Indigenous forestry, forest history, caribou and large mammal management, recovery of highly disturbed areas, boreal silviculture, long term experiments in the boreal forest, and access/recreation management.
In addition to the detailed technical program, the Conference will include a number of networking sessions, social events (i.e. Student Quiz Bowl and Awards Banquet), and a trade show exhibition area.
