On February 8, 2018 the Federal Government introduced Bill C-69 to the House of Commons. Bill C-69 includes the long awaited and proposed legislative changes to the National Energy Board, the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012, and the Navigation Protection Act. These changes were the conclusion of a lengthy review process launched by the Federal Government in 2016 to review changes made by the previous Federal Government under Prime Minister Harper to the environmental assessment and regulatory review process of energy projects, and related environmental provisions.
Join us for an overview of the changes introduced under Bill C-69, with a special focus on the changes to the National Energy Board and the review process for federal energy infrastructure projects. We’ll discuss the implications of these changes and leave plenty of time for discussion and sharing thoughts about what these changes mean for environmental assessment practitioners.
