Boreal Land Services Ltd. is a full-service land, regulatory & reclamation consulting company based in Sherwood Park, Alberta. We are currently seeking a Summer Student to support our Environment & Regulatory team during the 2026 field season.
In this position, you will be given meaningful, hands-on assignments related to environmental and reclamation consulting. The successful candidate will gain exposure to a variety of field and office-based activities, working alongside experienced professionals in areas such as environmental assessments, wetland ecology, reclamation, and regulatory applications.
This position will be based out of our Sherwood Park office, with a strong emphasis on field work throughout the summer.
Duties
· Assist with environmental and reclamation field programs, including wildlife sweeps, Detailed Site Assessments (DSAs), and reclamation monitoring.
· Collect and record biophysical field data (vegetation, soils, and site conditions).
· Support wetland assessments and delineation.
· Assist with the preparation of regulatory applications, including Public Lands Act dispositions, Water Act applications, and reclamation certificate applications.
· Provide general support to Environment & Regulatory Specialists on ongoing projects.
· Travel to remote locations via truck, ATV/ARGO, or helicopter as required.
Qualifications
· Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a degree or diploma program in Environmental Science, Forestry, Biology, Ecology, or a related field.
· Strong interest in environmental consulting, reclamation, and field-based work.
· Basic understanding of soils, vegetation, or wildlife identification would be considered an asset.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with GIS (QGIS or ArcGIS) is an asset.
· Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
Pre-Employment Requirements
· Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
· Willingness to work overtime and travel on short notice.
· Comfortable working in remote locations and physically demanding conditions, including walking on uneven terrain and working in variable weather.
· Ability to travel by truck, ATV/ARGO, and helicopter.
