Overview

The ASPB is regulated by the Alberta provincial government through the Professional and Occupational Associations Registration Act (POARA). The titles of Professional Biologist (P.Biol.) and Biologist in Training (BIT) are protected under the Professional Biologist Regulations. Admission to ASPB is regulated through POARA, the Professional Biologists Regulation, and the ASPB bylaws.

Code of Ethics

The Alberta Society of Professional Biologists (ASPB) has adopted a Code of Ethics which specify the principles, rules and requirements of professional conduct expected of Professional Biologists.

The ASPB Code of Ethics requires members to exhibit competence and integrity in all aspects of the practice of professional biology. Adherence to, and demonstrated competence related to, this Code of Ethics are requirements for membership. To view the code of ethics, please click here.
