Are you a recent graduate interested in gaining valuable experience or exploring a career in environmental consulting? We are currently seeking an Environmental Technician for a casual (as/when needed) or seasonal position based in our Calgary office. This role will support various projects throughout Alberta, including post-construction wildlife monitoring for wind and solar projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Conducting post-construction wildlife monitoring surveys for wind and solar projects
- Conducting/assisting with data entry, analysis and technical reporting
- Supporting other staff/projects within EDI, where appropriate
- Working effectively in a team environment to meet goals of the project productively and safely
We are looking for someone with:
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills
- The capacity to work independently in a dynamic environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, coupled with enthusiasm for continual improvement
- Willingness to travel for field work in remote locations for extended periods (e.g., two weeks), walk long distances and operate OHVs under a variety of weather conditions
Job requirements include:
- Completed or enrolled in a technical diploma, BSc or MSc degree program in biology, environmental science or related discipline(s)
- Class 5 driver’s licence
- Previous experience through employment, co-op work term or field courses in any of the following would be an asset:
- Avian identification, including supporting breeding bird surveys
- Wildlife surveys and habitat assessments
- Fish and fish habitat assessments
