Birdseye Environmental Ltd. is seeking several intermediate level Field Biologists (Contract) to conduct ecological studies across Western Canada. These opportunities are temporary positions starting in April, with strong potential for work extending into the fall and winter months of 2026/27. Successful candidates must be flexible and responsive to challenging and changing work environments. Salary will commensurate with experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Wildlife, wetland, and vegetation surveys.
  • Migratory Bird Nest Sweeps.
  • Timber inventory surveys.
  • ATV/Snowmobile operation.
  • Handheld GPS operation and navigation.
  • Data entry.
  • Coordinating with environmental site contacts, project managers, and resource specialists.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Working towards or possessing a B. Sc. degree in a natural sciences field.
  • Working towards or in good standing with the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists or College of Applied Biologists.
  • Past experience conducting wildlife, aquatics, wetlands, and vegetation surveys.
  • Experience conducting auditory bird surveys is a strong asset.
  • Experience conducting timber inventory surveys is a strong asset.
  • Ability to work safely outdoors in variable weather conditions and on challenging terrain.
  • Experienced with safe work procedures associated with remote environmental fieldwork.
  • Strong field acumen and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Willingness to commit to shift work.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
  • Effective problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Possess a current or willing to complete Alberta accredited H2S, Standard First Aid, WHMIS, Bear Aware, and ATV/Snowmobile Safety courses.
  • Ability to pass pre-hire drug (including cannabis) and breath alcohol tests.
