The Water Resource Coordinator provides hydrologic support across a range of water resource projects, contributing technical expertise in planning, modelling, and regulatory applications. This role focuses on project execution and coordination, while supporting client relationships and business development initiatives through proposal preparation, client interactions, and identifying opportunities, with growth toward increased responsibility in project delivery and team leadership.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Technical and Project Management
• Leads water resource planning and hydrologic assessments across Western Canada, applying regional modelling tools and provincial frameworks (e.g., Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan) to support regulatory approvals and operational decision-making.
• Manages projects end-to-end while coordinating with clients, regulators, and Indigenous and stakeholder groups, providing technical oversight, mentorship, and clear communication throughout all project phases.
• Act as a technical resource supporting water resources planning and management projects.
• Prepare, update, and manage project documents, work plans, budgets, and schedules and ensure QA/QC procedures are followed.
• Coordinate and facilitate internal and external project meetings.
• Provide support to the project team in preparing technical memorandums, reports, and presentations.
• Prepare project proposals, reports, and communication materials.
• Provide technical writing and editing support as requested.
2. Collaboration and Client Engagement
• Work collaboratively with project managers and other staff on water resources projects across the organization.
• Maintain client relationships to ensure their expectations are met and to understand their future needs.
• Engage with stakeholders from various sectors, including municipalities, government, industry, NGOs, Government Agencies, and other organizations/stakeholders.
3. Business Development and Team Leadership
• On an as-needed basis, contribute to business development pursuits with assistance and support from senior staff.
• Coordinate and provide direction to staff participating in assigned projects.
• Mentor junior staff to support their professional development.
• Attend and, when appropriate, present at conferences and seminars to represent the company and expand industry presence.

• Technical Excellence: Deliver high-quality technical input and project deliverables that meet QA/QC standards.
• Project Delivery: Complete assigned projects on schedule and within approved budgets.
• Client Engagement: Maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and successful project delivery.
• Team Leadership: Provide mentorship to junior staff and ensure effective coordination of project teams.
• Business Development: Contribute to proposals and pursuits that support growth of the water resources practice.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, or a related field.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in water resources planning, hydrologic assessments, or related areas.
• Proficiency with basin transfer hydrologic modeling, and awareness of Provincial web- based hydrologic tools such as Alberta River Basins, Alberta Water Tool, and the Alberta Flow Estimation Tool.
• Strong project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, and QA/QC oversight.
• Demonstrated ability to engage with clients, regulators, and stakeholders from diverse sectors.
• Experience mentoring and leading technical staff.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and presentation.
• Professional accreditation (P.Eng., P.Geo., P.Ag. or equivalent)
Any hydrologic modelling experience (e.g. HEC-RAS) is considered an asset.
