2018 ASPB Bird ID Workshop June 9 Field Trip

Dates and times: Friday June 8: Classroom Session (4:00 - 7:00 pm)
Saturday June 9: Field Trip (Calgary/Frank Lake - 5:00 am - 3:00 pm)
Sunday June 10: Field Trip (Kananaskis - 4:00 am - 2:00 pm)
Locations: The classroom session will be held at the Fish Creek Environmental Learning Centre at the WEST end of the park
15931 Woodpath Rd SW, Calgary, AB T2W 5M1.
Field Trips will begin at the Weaselhead Natural Area (37 St SW & 66 Ave SW, Calgary.) A bus will be provided from this location to registered participants. Please see detailed itinerary 2018 ASPB Bird ID Workshop Detailed Itinery.pdf.
Cost: $125 (member)/field trip, $150 (non-member)/field trip
You may register for both or one field trip. For questions,please email the ASPB office.
What to Wear: We will be going on the field trip rain or shine so bring clothes that can protect you from rain, sun, and wind. We will be walking on trails for several kilometres at each location so make sure your footwear is appropriate for dealing with puddles, wet grass, mud, etc. Rubber boots are not necessary.
What to Bring: Everyone should bring binoculars and a notebook. If you have access to a spotting scope and a field guide, please bring them too. We recommend bringing sunscreen and bug repellent.
Lead Presenter Biography:
Nick Bartok: Nick has worked on many avian projects across North America, including: secretive marsh bird surveys along the Lower Colorado River of southwest Arizona, Burrowing Owl research at the Salton Sea in Southern California, and bird banding in Ontario, Arizona, Oregon, California, British Columbia, Costa Rica, and Belize. Currently, he is working for Western EcoSystems Technology, based in Calgary, as a wildlife biologist / team lead.
