The Opportunity

This is a permanent, full-time position based out of our Edmonton office, with project assignments located primarily in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Working under management supervision, the successful candidate will be a proactive team player who plays a key role in executing fieldwork and delivering comprehensive reports for Watercourse, Wetland, and Wildlife projects, supporting dynamic initiatives across the oil and gas, municipal, infrastructure, and natural resource sectors throughout Western Canada.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct wildlife, wetland, and aquatic field assessments in a safe, efficient, and professional manner
  • Coordinate with on-site client representatives
  • Analyze field data to develop practical management and mitigation recommendations
  • Prepare clear, concise technical reports and project documentation for clients
  • Support the preparation of regulatory applications and assist with communication between clients and regulators, as needed
  • Work independently, including outside regular office hours, to meet project timelines and client needs
  • Assist with additional responsibilities as required to support overall team and project success

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology, Land Reclamation, Forestry, or another applicable field at a recognized university or college.
  • Registered, or ability to register as a Professional Biologist or Agrologist (or associated technologist) in Alberta and/or Saskatchewan is preferred;
  • Experience with AER OneStop Land Use and Water Act Applications an asset;
  • Minimum of three years of related experience for Intermediate applicants;
  • Solid field identification and assessment skills, and a desire to continue to learn;
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Proficient GIS skills and experience using ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, or QGIS and related data collection software.
  • Solid understanding of the industry and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to prioritize competing initiatives;
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and listening skills.
  • Good time management skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision and the ability to contribute to the project by being a team player.
  • Must be willing to travel and work remotely in a field setting away from headquarters. Must possess CSA approved Steel Toed Safety Boots
  • Must be physically capable of performing the manual labour duties required.
  • Experience in a consulting environment would be considered an asset.
  • Strong safety record and good driving skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License and must provide current drivers abstract when applying.
