ASPB seeking applicants for the position of Executive Director

The Alberta Society of Professional Biologists (ASPB) is seeking an individual to lead the Society as its Executive Director. This is a full-time permanent position.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the leadership and management of the organization in compliance with the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors. The Executive Director (ED) will oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of the Society's programs and services, ensuring that these programs and services contribute to the organization's mission.

The ED will administer the funds of the organization according to the annually-approved budget, providing the Board with comprehensive, regular reports on the revenues and expenditures of the Society and ensuring that the organization complies with all legislation. The ED will communicate with stakeholders to keep them informed of the work of the organization, and establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with government representatives and other professional organizations to help achieve the goals of the ASPB. The ED will also be responsible for identifying and evaluating potential risks to the organization.

An understanding of biology and environmental science in general is required, and holding a degree in biology or a related field would be considered an asset. Applicants should be fully familiar with financial, human resource and project management techniques as they relate to non-profit corporations and professional societies.
