Wetlands Practice Area Announcements
The formation of the Wetlands Practice Area (WPA) standing committee is underway. This committee will identify a strategy on how the practice area will be developed and anticipates the first committee meeting to be held in August 2017.
The ASPB is currently creating an e-mail distribution list for members interested in becoming (or who are already) wetland practitioners. Wetland-specific announcements, opportunities and events will then be distributed only to the members on this list, so please e-mail [email protected] to be added to this list. Please make sure to put WPA E-mail Distribution List in the subject line. We anticipate launching this communication mechanism in August 2017.
Now is your chance to contribute! If you have any ideas on what you would like to see offered through the practice area, please let us know at [email protected]. Please put WPA suggestions in the subject line. We are considering items such as a dedicated WPA webpage through the member’s log-in and a discussion forum, along with annual workshops and regular communications.
Please ensure that you are up to date on the latest wetland policy implementation directives and guidance documents and tools, such as the WAIR, WAIF and Mitigation Directives (updated in June 2017). Also note that the Alberta Merged Wetland Inventory has recently been updated.
